CHANDIGARH: Jannat Kang, a student of Carmel Convent School, has topped the Tricity in medical stream by scoring 95.4%.
Coming from a family of doctors, Jannat aspires to be acardiologist. ''I have a family of doctors. My mother is a doctor and now, sheteaches in Panjab University's Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of DentalSciences. Most of my relatives are also in this profession. Even my youngerbrother, Kabir of class IX, wants to don white coat. But my father, who tooteaches in PU, had tread a different path ' he had pursued electronicengineering,'' she said.
Jannat attributes her success to hard work,determination, regular studies and her parents' support. ''My mother alwaysstood with me. During my exams, she had taken leave from her work and sat withme through the nights,'' she added.
It was not just books thatbooked her time. For, she ensured that fun had some place in her hectic studyschedule. ''In November, I had started preparing for the exams. But I used towatch movies and cricket also to destress myself. I had never thought that Iwill top my stream... the result has come as a pleasant surprise,'' said Jannat,who was a member of her school's basketball team till class X.
HPSKang, her father who teaches MTech students in PU, said, ''My daughter has mademe proud. I want her to fulfil her dream of being a successful doctor.''
